About Prince of Wales Island

Prince of Wales Island, located in southern Southeast Alaska, is the third largest island in the United States. It is home to ten communities whose residents share the mountains, rivers, and forests with a wide variety of wildlife including eagles, deer, bears, and many other species, some of which runners of the marathon are sure to see as they traverse the island. Prince of Wales is especially active during the summertime when salmon return to their streams to spawn.
